Okemah High School senior Cameron Duncan has been selected by coaches of the Oklahoma Coaches Association as the Region 2 Female Athlete of the Year.
Duncan has played varsity fast-pitch softball for four years, varsity slow-pitch softball for four years, and varsity girls basketball for four years. She has been named to the Fast-Pitch All-Region Team, All- District Team, Fast-Pitch All-Conference Team, basketball All-Conference team, and she was a starter on the District Champion Lady Panthers basketball team. Cameron has been named as an Academic All-State honoree in fast-pitch, basketball, and slow-pitch, as well. She has also earned numerous awards from her coaches at OHS.
In addition to her success on the field and court, she is also a stellar student. Duncan graduates this year as a class Valedictorian and Oklahoma Academic Scholar. She was accepted to the Honors programs at Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma State University, and she has been invited to participate in the Presidential Scholars Program at Murray State College. Cameron will graduate high school having already earned 31 college credit hours through concurrent enrollment. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (college), National Honor Society, and Oklahoma Honor Society.
Along with her athletic and academic accomplishments, Cameron is also a member of Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Student Council. She is also a member of Last Chance Baptist Church of Okemah. She enjoys reading and spending time with her friends.
Cameron will attend Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK, where she will major in science/pre-med. She has also committed to play softball at MSC.
Cameron is the daughter of Darin and Amy Duncan of Okemah and the granddaughter of Gerald and Barbara Duncan of Okemah and of the late Fred Burrow and the late Dorothy Burrow, also of Okemah. She is also the sister of Zach Duncan, a 2017 graduate of Okemah High School and current student/baseball player at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR.
